Schwarzer rejected Fulham’s offer of a new contract

Fulham veteran goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer decided to turn down the latest Fulham contract offer.

The 40-year-old goalkeeper has joined the Cottagers in 2008 and helped them to reach Europa League final in 2010. Schwarzer signed a one-year extension to his deal in January, 2012, but Fulham boss Martin Jol revealed the contract negotiations reached a stalemate. He said: “We made an offer to them and he did not accept that. We will hope to talk with him as well. There is no deadline with him.”

It is likely that Schwarzer rejected the contract offer because he has been suggested only a marginal role at the club, as Aussie keeper has recently revealed he would be happy to stay and the club and have a regular first-team practice at the club to earn Australia call-up ahead of 2014 World Cup.
