Southampton set to make Cagliari Astori switch

According to Daily Mail 25-year-old Cagliari defender Davide Astori has agreed terms with Southampton for a permanent move.

Liverpool have also made an offer for a £12 million-rated player but are likely to miss out to Southampton, as the Saints are determined to sign the player in order to reshape their sloppy defensive line (they have conceded 38 goals in the first half of Premier League 2012-2013 season).

Astori has earned two Italy caps and is considered as a backup for first-choice defender Andrea Barzagli by Italy coach Cesare Prandelli.
