St.Etienne Aubameyang keen on Newcastle switch
In-demand St.Etienne striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang admitted he dreams of playing in the Premier League and would jump at a chance of joining Newcastle.
The 24-year-old Gabon international has been a transfer target for Newcastle for about a year, and was close to joining the Magpies in January. However the deal fell through, as Newcastle failed to match St.Etienne’s asking price.
And yet Newcastle are likely to complete the deal this summer, as the player himself is keen on making a swoop to the Premier League. He said “I will choose England before any other destination. My dream has always been to play in one of the top two leagues in the world. Newcastle is a good club and St James’ Park is a monumental stadium where there is passionate fans.”
That said, Anzhi Makhachkala, who are considered to be Geordies’ main rivals for the signature of the talented forward, have only slim chances of luring the player to Russia.
New director of football Joe Kinnear is reportedly keen to finalize the move before the start of pre-season preparation.
