Vermaelen will be given a chance to revive his career as Arsenal’s move for Swansea Williams stalled

Thomas Vermaelen will be given a chance to revive his career at the Emirates stadium, as Arsenal are reluctant to meet Swansea £10 million asking price for their defender Ashley Williams.

Arsenal have been strongly linked with a move for the 28-year-old Wales international from January, and the Gunners boss Arsene Wenger decided to step up his interest in the player this summer. However the Swans slapped £10 million price tag on their valuable asset and Wenger decided price does not meet quality.

As the prospect of signing Williams seems to be unrealistic at the moment, Wenger could be inclined to give a second chance to his defender Thomas Vermaelen, who has lost his starting spot after a bright start to his last season’s Premier League campaign.

The recent speculation suggested Vermaelen will be sold this summer, but Arsenal boss s reported to be reluctant to part ways with the player if he does not find a decent replacement.
