Watford loanee Vydra wants to test himself at the highest level
Watford forward Matej Vydra, who joined the Championship club from Udinese on a season-long loan, does not wish to return to Vicarage Road and is looking for a new challenge, according to his agent.
The 21-year-old Czech has netted 22 Championship goals for Watford, who reached play-off final, but suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat against Crystal Palace. However his prolificacy has attracted attention from several Premier League clubs with Tottenham, Arsenal and Fulham being particularly interested. And Vydra is reportedly willing to jump at the chance of playing in the top-flight.
Vydra’s agent Ondrej Chovanec said: “I can’t imagine him playing Championship again right now. We discussed it with the boy and he would like to play with the top players on the top level. It’s difficult because he was very happy at Watford, but if you get the opportunity to play Premier League or German Bundesliga would you say no?
“He is the number one Czech international striker and he would like to play the same level competition as Petr Cech is doing. He is the number one Czech international striker and he would like to play the same level competition as Petr Cech is doing,” he added.
Watford and Udinese are both owned by the Pozzo family, who would like to send Vydra to Watford for one more season. Chovanec revealed: “They would like him to go back to Watford next season because they want to make the team strong and they want to finish the job.”
“The Pozzos are always saying if the player wants to leave and the offer is good enough then let’s discuss. At the moment he would like to play in the highest league. He had two or three proposals from Premier League clubs in January and he has had fresh proposals,” added the agent.
