Man Utd target Garay, Ogbonna

Man Utd target Garay, Ogbonna

According to Daily Mirror Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson continues the search for the replacement to his ageing defensive duo Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic.

34-year-old Ferdinand’s contract is due to expire in summer and he is weighting up available options. It is likely that he accepts the big-money offer from either Chinese or Qatarian club or joins one of the MLS sides.

31-year-old Vidic has been struggling with injuries for the last couple of years and has not yet returned to full fitness.

Fergie is said to be interested in signing highly-rated defenders Benfica’s Ezequiel Garay and Torino Angelo Ogbonna whom he considers to be ideal candidates to fill Ferdinand’s and Vidic boots. The 26-year-old Garay has been watched by Man Utd scouts for several times and his impressive performances have convinced Ferguson to try and snap up the player next summer.

The 24-year-old Ogbonna has been touted by the media as a hot prospect for the future and has attracted the interest from several top Premier League clubs including Arsenal and Everton.
