History and achievements
Crystal Palace is a football side that built in 1905. The following season the team started playing in the Southern League Second Division, receiving promotion to the First Division in its first season.
The club progressed to the top division of English football in 1969/1970, though it was relegated from the top division in 1973.
The most successful spell in the club’s life started in the late 1980s when the side finished third in the Second Division, receiving promotion to the top flight. In 1990 Crystal Palace climbed to the FA Cup final, but was beaten by Manchester United. The 1990/1991 campaign saw the club occupying the third place in the First Division.
During the recent two decades the side was rotating between the Premier League and the Championship.
Throughout its history the club spent 13 seasons in division 1, 37 seasons in the second league and 33 seasons in the third league.
At the end of 2012/2013 season Crystal Palace secured a return to the top flight after a hard-fough win over Watford in play-off final at Wembley.
Brighton & Hove Albion is the major rival of the team. The home arena of is Selhurst Park that can hold up to 26,309.
