The England Under-21 team qualify for Euro 2013 facing violence

The England Under-21 national team won the match against Serbia 1-0, but Danny Rose was exposed to racist abuse from Serbian fans in Krusevac.

Connor Wickham scored the 94th-minute goal and ensured a 2-0 win on aggregate as the first leg was a 1-0 success as well.

England’s left-back, Danny Rose, claims that he was subjected to monkey chants during the match. Right after the whistle he reacted to the abuse kicking the ball away and was immediately given red card. By the end of the event England footballers were pushed by several Serbian players when they tried to enter the tunnel.

Prime Minister of England, David Cameron, asked UEFA to impose sanctions on racism on Tuesday night’s match.

According to the Serbian B92 website, Serbian coach Aleksandar Jankovic doesn’t see any reason to apologize for the accident.

The similar precedent took place in 2007 when Nedum Onuoha was racially abused in the match between England and Serbia at Under-21 European Championship in the Netherlands and UEFA fined Serbia for £16,000.
