Gerardo Martino appointed the new Barcelona coach
Former Newell’s Old Boys coach Gerardo ‘Tata’ Martino has been officially named the new Barcelona manager.
According to official FC Barcelona web-site, the club has reached an agreement with the Argentine specialist.
“Martino was born in Rosario (Argentina) on November 20, 1962. He has extensive experience of South American football, first as a player and after as a coach, most recently on the bench at Newell’s Old Boys, with whom he won the 2013 Final Tournament”.
Other pundits say the choice was partly determined by Lionel Messi advice as Martino has strong links with the Argentine star’s family.
Tata is due to arrive at Camp Nou in the nearest time to formalize his contract.
