Italian Weekend: Inter meet with a balk at Lazio, lowly Bologna edge hosting Napoli

Italian Weekend: Inter meet with a balk at Lazio, lowly Bologna edge hosting Napoli

Lazio 1-0 Internazionale

There was an electric atmosphere at Stadio Olimpico as both sides were hard nuts to crack. Both teams showed their offensive appetite and at the same time both had strong defensive covers. However, Lazio’s striker Miroslav Klose breached Inter’s defensive line and scored a hard-fought winner 8 minutes from time. That thumping victory lifted Lazio to the third place, level on 33 points with struggling Napoli who missed their bite at the cherry to close the gap after a 2-3 defeat to Bologna.

Juventus 3-0 Atalanta

Juventus took an early step in the right direction via Mirko Vucinic’es goal just two minutes into the game and Atalanta barely had time to come round as Andrea Pirlo powered in a spectacular free-kick in the 14th minute. Claudio Marchisio made it 3-0 just before the half-hour mark. The Juve built up an unassailable Serie A lead with 41 points making hay from Inter’s defeat to Lazio on Saturday.

AC Milan 4-1 Pescara

Milan’s midfielder Antonio Nocerino needed just 35 seconds to take an early lead over the visiting side. Pescara’s striker Elvis Abruscato and the 64th minute sub Jonathas virtually gave the victory to the Rossoneri on a plate scoring an own goal each. Stephan El Shaarawy put his stamp 9 minutes from time netting the 14th goal in the season. Christian Terlizzi was the man to make Pescara’s sole response. The Rossoneri are the 7th with 27 points, 14 points behind the leaders Juventus.

Napoli 2-3 Bologna

Napoli missed their golden chance to leapfrog to the second place in the table after thrashing by Bologna at home. The visiting striker Manolo Gabbiadini opened the scoring for Bologna 10 minutes into the game. However, Alessandro Gamberini and Edinson Cavani made it 2-1 in the second half. The Naples men had the jitters when Panagiotis Kone leveled 2-2 in the 86 minute and totally lost ground when Bologna’s captain Daniele Portanova lighted up victory for his side in the dying moments of the game.

Udinese 1-1 Palermo
Fiorentina 4-1 Siena
