Man City sack Mancini

Roberto Mancini has been fired by Manchester City board, as they felt a change was needed and that the Italian had become stale in his post.

Mancini has joined the Citizens in 2009 and clinched FA Cup in 2011 and claimed Premier League title last season in style, outstripping cross-town rivals Manchester United on goal difference after a last-minute Aguero’s goal earned them 3-2 victory over Wigan in a thrilling game.

This season, however, Man City failed to win any silverware, losing the title to United, suffering a humiliating defeat against Wigan in FA Cup final and being knocked out in the group stages of the Champions League.

Speculation as to Mancini’s successor at the Etihad stadium is rife with Malaga’s Manuel Pellegrini being touted by the media as the favourite to get the nod. However Pellegrini himself is refusing to comment on the link.
