Tottenham and Swansea maintain perfect start in Europa League

Tottenham Hotspur and Swansea City maintained their perfect start in Europe after second straight victories over Anzhi Makhachkala and St.Gallen respectively.

The second-string London side had no problems in Russia as Jermain Defoe and Nacer Chadli scored in the first half to secure a victory.

Swansea City, however, had a tough test from the Swiss opponents in Wales. The visitors could have opened the scoring 15 minutes into the game but Goran Karanović missed from the penalty spot. Wayne Routledge hit the back of the net in 53 minutes to give Swansea a hard-fought win. Michu got a head injury in the middle of the first half and kept on bleeding until the end of the match having to change his shirt five times.

Wigan Athletic earned their first European victory over Maribor 3-1 courtesy of a brace from Nick Powell and a goal from Ben Watson.
