Pescara is a professional football club that was established in 1936. The traditional colors of the team are white and light blue and the most famous nickname is the Dolphins.
Throughout its history Pescara played only in minor leagues and started competing in Serie B only in 1974, yet the club appeared in Serie A a number of times in the 1970s and 1980s, the latest run finished in 1993.
In 2008 Catania was legally declared bankrupt and a year later it was taken over by ‘Delfino Pescara 1936’. The club managed to stabilize in the top standings of Serie B and after the Czech manager Zdeněk Zeman was appointed in 2011 and team started showing spectacular and attacking football, at the end of the season 2011/2012 receiving promotion to Serie A. However, the Dolphins were unable to provide solid competition among Italian giants and got relegated after their first season in Serie A with just 22 points at the end of the tournament.
The Stadio Adriatico serves as a home ground of the team and can hold up to 24,500 people.
